I have never used this company before, and I won’t do so now either. I traveled to Denver with my fiancée for three days, during which time we were completely duped and taken advantage of. The company is currently abdicating its duty of care. When making the rental car arrangements, the salesperson asked us if we would be interested in upgrading to a BMW for an additional fee. Since we don’t need anything special, we declined. Then he proposed to charge us his “special rate,” which was roughly an extra $30 per day. He said we would need this vehicle if we were to pass through the mountains safely. We agreed because it sounded like a pretty good deal and he assured us that the $30 daily fee was the only extra cost. Due to all the additional fees, my reserved $400 rental car ended up costing $1,200. When I called customer service to dispute the charge, I received blatantly rude treatment as she accused me of “not reading the fine print.” When I rented from him, I put my faith in the man because I knew he would look me in the eye and explain the fine print. He lied to my fiance and I allegedly because that is how this company trains its staff to lie. This company engages in unethical behavior. I made the decision to try Amex because it offered a good deal that was more affordable than my usual card, Emerald. I’ve traveled frequently and am skilled at recognizing fraud. Generally speaking, you’re good to go. I’ll make sure to inform your uninformed customers about this heinous theft because I find it disgusting. ****Not to mention that the supposed refund of my deposit never appeared. It was disgusting, and when I mentioned that I had used Amex to avoid paying for the most expensive “nonrefundable” “upgraded” insurance, they tricked me into paying for it. I can’t emphasize this enough: avoid using this company to avoid being robbed!

Because of this, renting and returning the car went off without a hitch. I would have given a 4 or 5-star rating if it weren’t for the following issue. Even though I explicitly told the agent I did not need any insurance (and never have, and neither will I), I discovered when I returned the car that my original intent was to enroll in insurance rather than decline it. The agent definitely tricked me. I received numerous warnings in reviews, but I persisted in making the error. I have complained, and the company has so far backed up my initial proposal. I won’t ever use this company again if things stay the same.

I’ve rented cars for both personal and professional purposes for more than 20 years, but I’ve never, ever dealt with such an unprofessional rental car service. I booked this rental car from NU online because it was reasonably priced and close to the Miami airport rental car facility. The location was not at the airport (this was misleading, was off sight), check-in was very slow with many hidden fees (the website price point was misleading), and they didn’t recognize our insurance so we had to buy liability insurance (they only recognize 3 insurance companies for liability), the check out service was very slow (technicians crawled under the car, threw the car, and brought a flashlight inside the vehicle, it was like they were looking for something special), and the check-out service was very slow. Before renting from this company, please read the entire contract as there are numerous customer risks included (this is not a forgiving contract like the ones used by the majority of typical rental agencies). I want you to know that you should use the utmost caution when renting from this company because there is a good chance that you will be hit with unanticipated or excessive fees and charges, and the service is very poor. I do not suggest using NU.
